Introduction

What is a teaching manual 

In simple words we can say that teaching manual is the record of teachers daily work his or her plan of work with students what he or she already done what he or she indents to do during a particular period
A manual that a company is the essential for living handbook and includes variety of special considerations and teaching procedures that are required for the effective instruction with children and adults with limited skill repertoires.
For attaining the curriculum objectives by utilising text books teachers handbook other books and situations teachers has to make an idea about how he or she will create learning situations.With in the available time the planning note 4 one day based on this is known as teaching manual.
Planning is very important for the effective classroom transaction it help the teachers to design and develop different classroom activities and processes. There are two level of planning unit plan and daily plan unit plan is pedagogical analysis of a particular unit were as daily plan is the plan for classroom process for each day.

characteristics of teaching manual 

  • Aims at helping the teacher to monitor the program

  • It includes the list of teaching aids summarising the learning and exercise in organisation a medium of self expression and indication of progress and various assignments.

  • Which is the device for review the work

  • It's suggest the teacher to adopt appropriate strategies to teach every topic

  • Grounded in rights based and child centred approaches to education

Basic promises of a teaching manual

  • Continuing professional development of teachers working in school

  • Development of collaborative learning practices at classroom school and community level

  • Respecting and valuing student diversity in our school practices

  • Supporting on learners by making the curriculum flexible and why introducing differentiated instructional practices to implement the curriculum

Three main sections

  • The first section is from principals to school based actions. It contains the activities at the school level to engage the students teachers and even parents beyond the usual setting in the classroom.

  • Second one is building blocks towards supporting all learners. It focuses the activities on the classroom level the order of the sub chapters follows a component of good practice.

  • Next is putting it into practice. It is organised along the process of education starting with planning perspective followed by the interactive prospective of synchronising the learning and teaching and ending with the evaluation review and reflection. It follows the process of education which essentially is an action cycle or a problem solving cycle. For this teachers need to combine why what and how and where.

There for the section highlights the practices to envisage  assignments and setting to synchronise teaching and learning activities and to combine review and reflection.


The concept of teaching manual has got certain changes in the new transitional period teaching manual was prepared for a specific period that is until fortified minutes recently but new trends do not insist on the time demarcation where as it recommends to plan for an entire unit. The shall be two columns in teaching manual as process page and response page individual response are noticed in the case of outstanding responses and below average responses be assessed in response page so as to change the strategies in the learning environment.




               There are two column consisting of process page and response page. For column with engagement exploration explanation and evaluation. 5E 7e etc.

            Now a day teaching manual became online called digital teaching manuals. Samagra portal is an example for online teaching manual. ERIC ,gooru are other examples.
